Faculties and Graduate Schools
Cultivating engineers
for the next generation
to support industry and lifestyles.
With a curriculum for learning while fostering a love of knowledge, ranging from the basics of engineering to cutting-edge technologies, this faculty develops engineers who have the capacity to be active on the world's front lines.
Developing engineers who can be active in a wide range of fields related to electrical and electronics technology.
Without electricity, our everyday lifestyles would soon fall apart. Machines ranging from high-speed railways to mobile devices are only made possible by electrical and electronics technology. Today, our society is in growing need of young engineers and researchers who can open up new paths for our future in these fields.
Robots, production lines, automobiles, cameras … any type of machine can be completely controlled by mechatronics.
“Mechatronics” is a technological field that combines electrical and electronic engineering with machinery. Nearly all machines around us in our everyday lives are operated by mechatronics. This department is divided into the four fields of Machinery, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Measurement and Control, and Information and Computers, aiming to develop mechatronics engineers able to play active roles in these industries. It cultivates mechanical engineers who also have knowledge of electricity and electronics, and electrical and electronic engineers who also have knowledge of machinery.
Performing a deep and broad study of mechanics the core element of production.
Can you envision a workshop without any machinery? Throughout the ages, machinery has been the most important technology supporting industry. In other words, mechanical engineering is the foundation and at the same time the most representative field of engineering. Experts from all the fields of mechanical engineering are assembled in this department and teach their students, one-on-one, about topics that range from the basics to advanced applied technologies.
Nurturing scientific thinking and practical ability by experiencing the wonder, depth, and joy of mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
In this department, students experience the wonder, depth, and joy of science (mathematics, physics, chemistry) serving as the foundation of the advanced technology (engineering) that supports today’s society, to nurture their scientific thinking and practical ability. While obtaining specialized knowledge in fields including mathematics, physics, and chemistry, students also learn theories and techniques (such as modeling and simulation) to apply them. The Department of Engineering Science develops the students’ abilities to truly apply fundamental skills to investigate and analyze elements of the world around them as natural phenomena, starting from their origins, and develops human resources that can actively participate in broad fields including industry and education.
Confronting the environmental issues faced by the Earth and mankind in a wide range of fields.
While enhancing accurate comprehension and awareness of various environmental issues, this department engages in practical education centered on “eco-chemistry”, “biochemistry”, and “energy machines” related to the development of environmentally-friendly chemicals, and the search for effective energy utilization technology and biomaterials. By doing so, it seeks to develop human resources who have a high level of environmental awareness and are able to actively participate in these broad fields.
Developing people who can fully utilize ICT to create buildings that consider humans and the environment.
As technology advances and society diversifies, the requirements for architecture are becoming increasingly complex. It will be necessary for the next generation of architects and architectural engineers to be able to fully utilize ICT (information and communications technology) and to have the ability to construct a sustainable society with architecture and urban planning that consider people and the environment.
